Laurie Cook Heffron, PhD, LMSW, is Associate Professor and Social Work Program Director at St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. Her research focuses on intimate partner and sexual violence, migration, and impacts on refugees, asylum-seekers, trafficked persons, and detained immigrants, and she teaches courses related to meso and macro-level practice, policy advocacy, and human behavior in the social environment.
