Barbara Gordon is currently Director of Community Engagement at the University of Louisville Trager Institute/Optimal Aging Clinic and teaches at the University of Louisville Kent School of Social Work. Ms. Gordon’s professional career spans more than 45 years, including her work at KIPDA as the Director of Social Services and the Area Agency on Aging serving a seven-county region and the largest metropolitan area in the state. She also served at the Kentucky Office of Aging, the Kentucky Department for Behavioral Health, and various community-based organizations and agencies serving older adults and persons with severe and persistent mental illness. Ms. Gordon has several years of experience working in the community in various capacities, including Coalition development, planning, and implementing initiatives related to health and wellness and advocating for programs and services that will impact the quality of life of all citizens living in the communities and environments they choose. She is a minister at her home church with a focus on Women’s Ministry. Ms. Gordon has served on many boards, task forces, and committees, and currently serves on the boards of Hildegard House in Louisville, the Kentucky Voices for Health, and a family-run not-for-profit, Family Circle, Inc.
