Eliza Galvez, LMSW is a Ph.D. student and graduate research assistant at the College of Social Work at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She holds a B.S. in Psychology from Georgia State University and an M.S.W. from Kennesaw State University. Her scholarly pursuits are centered on the mental health prevention and programming for Latino and migrant communities to inform service provision in new destination states, with a particular focus on culturally- and trauma-responsive care. Galvez’s scholarship is driven through her previous work with these communities in various non-profit agencies and health systems. Additionally, Galvez actively engages in community-based presentations aimed at raising awareness of the specific healthcare needs of Latinos in Tennessee.
