Dr. Taylor Ellis is a licensed social worker and assistant professor at Jacksonville State University where he teaches courses related to social work practice with communities, groups, and organizations, advocacy, and research. He obtained his PhD in Social Work from the University of Alabama where he partnered with multiple community-based organizations to assess the effects of youth participating in a creative writing group while adjudicated for their illegal sexual behaviors. Outside of education, Dr. Ellis’ primary role in social work practice has been as a program evaluator. Currently, he partners with Embrace Alabama Kids to provide independent consulting on the evaluation of their Higher Education scholarship program. Dr. Ellis recently self-published his first book of poetry, On Becoming, Losing, and Being: A Journey of Grief and Fatherhood Through Poetry and Prose which explores the experiences of becoming a father for the first time while simultaneously losing his father. Dr. Ellis is a poet, partner, and parent.
