Mariah Cowell Mercier, MSW is a PhD Candidate at the College of Social Work at the University of Utah in the Utah Criminal Justice Center. Previous work experience has focused on the implementation and evaluation of interventions focusing on mental health and health disparities within the criminal legal system. Her current research focuses on complex system interventions addressing community violence, specifically through community re-investment. Her research interests include diversion and divestment from the criminal legal system, the impacts of hyper-incarceration and community-based violence prevention.
