Sarah Ascienzo, PhD, LCSW is an Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work at North Carolina State University. Informed by 15 years of clinical practice experience with trauma-affected youth and families in community- and school-based settings, Dr. Ascienzo's scholarship focuses on efforts to understand and mitigate the impact of trauma and adverse experiences on health and wellbeing, including an empahsis on secondary trauma and the wellbeing of professionals. Dr. Ascienzo has experience as a clinical trainer and program developer/implementer, and provides training and consultation on topics related to trauma-informed care and provider wellbeing. She is the Project Director/PI of the School's HRSA-funded BHWET Scholars program and engages in efforts to support and strengthen the behavioral health workforce. In addition, Dr. Ascienzo greatly enjoys teaching and mentoring students, and currently teaches practice and research courses in the undergraduate program.
