Exxon B. Susmerano is a PhD student at the Arizona State University, School of Social Work. He is also an assistant professor of social work at the College of Social Work and Community Development (CSWCD), University of the Philippines Diliman, Philippines. He obtained his Master of Arts in Public Management degree from the International University of Japan under the Asian Development Bank - Japan Scholarship Program and his bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of the Philippines Diliman. Prior to working in CSWCD and joining the PhD in Social Work program at ASU, he worked in Philippine government agencies such as the Department of Social Welfare and Development (policy development, research and planning bureau) and the Department of Labor and Employment (planning and programming division). He also served as a part-time volunteer and facilitator in various non-government organizations in the Philippines. His research interests include social welfare policies and programs, social work administration, spirituality, disability policies, and social work education.
