Dr. Brittany Lynch is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (in NY, NJ, and IL), 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher, and anti-racist social work educator, researcher, and practitioner. She received her undergraduate degree in sociology and political science from the George Washington University, her masters of social work with a specialization in marriage and family therapy from the University of Louisville, and doctorate in clinical social work from New York University.
Brittany considers herself a global citizen, having lived on four continents in various capacities including as an exchange student, medical volunteer, English teacher, program coordinator and Peace Corps volunteer. As a social worker, she has worked with a wide range of diverse clients including adolescents in a residential treatment setting, children and families involved with the child welfare system, veterans experiencing chronic homelessness and mental illness, and immigrants and refugees. After working in the community for many years, Brittany realized that the common thread, in terms of what she consistently enjoyed the most about each of her roles, was working with social work students, which led her to a career in social work education. She currently serves as an Assistant Professor and the inaugural MSW Program Director in the social work derpartment at Iona University.
Brittany believes deeply in the power of social work practice and sees excellence in social work education as the cornerstone. Her current research centers around anti-racist social work education, specifically examining the evolution of the paradigm and ways to effectively assess student's ability to practice anti-racism.
