Dana Holcomb, DSW LMSW is an Associate Professor and Director of Field Education at Ferris State University. Dr. Holcomb received her BSW from Madonna University, MSW from Michigan State University, and DSW from the University of St. Thomas. Dr. Holcomb’s research focuses on formal faculty mentorship in higher education, particularly as it relates to historically excluded groups. Dr. Holcomb’s research also focuses on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on social work faculty, equity and social justice issues within practicum education, and the role of practicum directors hold in assessing ADEI practices. Dr. Holcomb specializes in the area of children and family and spent eight years in the child welfare arena in various capacities. Her clinical experience includes providing services to those with substance use disorder diagnoses as well as engaging in therapeutic interventions with survivors of trauma. Dr. Holcomb has presented in professional settings on topics such as ADEI considerations in practicum education, secondary traumatic stress, formal faculty mentorship in higher education, and the impact of COVID-19 on practicum directors.
