Dr. Shelagh Larkin is a licensed independent social worker who obtained her PhD in 2020 and MSW in 1988 at the University of Kentucky. She has 36 years of experience in practice and social work education. Her practice experience is in the areas of mental health, child welfare, and eating disorders where she worked with individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities. Dr. Larkin served as the director for field education for 25 years at Xavier University where she was responsible for all aspects of the practicum program prior to moving into an Assisitant Professor line in 2023. She has taught individual, family, and group practice courses and currently is the chair of her college's assessment committee.
