This study aims to provide an overview of an introductory MSW research course that introduced students to participatory action research by investigating adverse childhood experiences and their impact on social work majors. Such active learning strategies allowed social work trainees to gain practical research skills and fulfill CSWE research competencies.
Learning Objectives:
To introduce a student-led participatory action research project on adverse childhood experiences and its results.
To provide an overview of a research course to enhance research literacy in social work students
To contribute to David Kolb’s (1984) experiential learning model regarding the active engagement of social work students in research scholarship.
