A Review of LGBTQ+ Content in Diversity and Justice Course Syllabi

In this presentation, we will discuss the inclusion of LGBTQ+ content found in the MSW syllabi for required first-year stand-alone Diversity and Justice courses. A review of background, findings, and recommendations for creating timely, affirming and intersectionally-oriented content will be provided.

Learning Objectives:

  1. understand the importance of including LGBTQ+ content that is contemporary and intersectional for MSW students, faculty, campus climate, and for preparing students for practice
  2. describe what content was found in required first-year stand-alone diversity and justice courses
  3. utilize recommendations for how to include, and frame LGBTQ+ content that is affirming, intersectional, and aligns with EPAS ADEI competencies
