This panel explores local social work history preservation and education, featuring discussions from experts on using archives, documenting institutions, creating curricula, building research archives, community engagement, and research methodologies. It aims to enhance social work education with inclusivity, equity, and justice, encouraging active contributions to local historical knowledge.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Upon completion, participants will be able to identify and utilize local archives as a key resource for uncovering and integrating local social work histories into educational curricula, enhancing the depth and relevance of social work education.
  2. Upon completion, participants will be able to engage and collaborate with local communities to document, preserve, and celebrate their unique social welfare stories, fostering a participatory approach to historical preservation.

Upon completion, participants will be able to apply diverse research methodologies to explore and preserve local social work history, thereby contributing to the democratization of historical knowledge and enriching the narrative of social work education with multifaceted community perspectives.
