Examining the Relationship Between Household Violence and Mother-Child Double Burden Malnutrition in India

This study examined maternal exposure to violence among mother-child dyads experiencing double burden malnutrition. Data were from the 2019-2021 India National Family Health Survey. Many dyads had been exposed to violence. Nutritional interventions could benefit from integration of trauma informed care principles and programs to address violence within the household.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe double burden malnutrition within the household among mother-child dyads in India.
  2. Discuss the prevalence of intimate partner violence India.
  3. Discuss the implications of the relationship between intimate partner violence and double burden malnutrition among mother-child dyads on potential interventions and strategies aimed at mitigating the impacts of intimate partner violence and malnutrition, thereby enhancing the well-being of vulnerable populations.
