Anti-racism, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (ADEI) can be a challenging concept for students. This workshop aims to use indigenous protest music as a method for engaging students in the process exploring cultures, exploration of their biases, and self-correction leading to culturally responsive AEDI practices in practicum settings.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will be introduced to experiential ways to assist students in exploring their own biases, engaging in self-reflection and self-correction through indigenous protest music.
Participant will learn to use indigenous music to identify the strengths that exist in a culture or ethnic group through indigenous protest music.
Discuss your thoughts and feelings about the lyrics and the ethnic or cultural group. Identify social or ethical implications come from your discussion of thoughts, feelings and perceptions about the group from the lyrics
