This study explored factors influencing mental health treatment need among Black and Latino/a respondents using data from the 2021 National Survey on Drug Use and Health. Results from logistic regression revealed that Black and Latino/a participants had lower odds reporting the need for mental health treatment compared to White participants.

Understand the potential contributing factors to the perceived need for mental health treatment among Black and Latino/a individuals.
Recognize the associations between symptoms of psychological distress, problem severity, and the perceived need for mental health treatment.
Highlight the importance of addressing and investigating racial/ethnic disparities in perceived treatment need to promote equitable access to mental healthcare.
