B.R.A.K.E. the Cycle: A Domestic Violence Bystander Intervention for the South Asian Community

This poster presents the results of a study examining responses to an online bystander education intervention for the South Asian Community in the United States. Results highlight the need to incorporate discussions of gender and immigrant status in bystander interventions for the South Asian community.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Define domestic violence in South Asian communities that includes immigration-related abuse and abuse by in-laws along with more Westernized conceptualizations of domestic violence.
  2. Understand the results of a of a study examining responses to an online bystander education intervention for the South Asian Community in the United States.
  3. Understand the need to incorporate discussions of gender and immigrant status in bystander interventions for the South Asian community.
