Dr. King is an Assistant Professor at Clark Atlanta University in the Whitney M. Young, Jr., School of Social Work. Dr. King earned her Ph.D. from Clark Atlanta University, her MSW from Georgia State University, and her BA in Psychology from Fort Valley State University. Dr. King has twenty-eight years of professional and academic experience with developing child welfare policies, programs, and services that frame her research agenda. She teaches Child Welfare Programs and Services and Issues in Child Welfare: Abuse and Neglect, among others in the undergraduate program. She integrated data science into her Child Welfare course, where her students use data sets from the National Data Archive on Child Abuse and Neglect to complete data science projects using R programming language. Additionally, Dr. King uses data science in her research on child welfare issues and has presented her findings at national conferences. She was a Co-PI on a research grant funded by the AUC Data Science Initiative and Google Health to develop a Social Work Data Corps program for students to conduct research related to social determinants of health.
