Dr. Jason Anthony Plummer research focuses sociopolitical youth development, which translates to studying how young people become involved in their community on issues related to social justice. He defines social justice as issues related to racial equity, criminal justice reform, and democracy. His current research agenda is on how social workers develop a social justice orientation and work with their clients as change agents. He received his B.A. in psychology from Baruch College, CUNY, and both his master’s in social work and urban planning are from the University of Michigan. He received his PhD in social welfare at the Luskin School of Public Affairs at the University of California, Los Angeles. He is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Urban Social Work and author of Families in the Urban Environment: Understanding resiliency (Cognella, 2018). Currently, he is an assistant professor of social welfare at California State University, Long Beach.
