Dr. Mitschke served as Associate Dean of Academic and Student Affairs at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) from 2020-2024, where she led an academic affairs team of 25 professional staff and faculty to guide the school’s advising, field, instructional support, and student success efforts. With over 2,000 students, UTA’s School of Social Work is one of the largest in the U.S., and sits within a university ranked as the 5th most diverse in the nation. Dr. Mitschke is a Distinguished Teaching Professor, the highest honor awarded for teaching excellence at UTA, and has 9 years of academic administrative leadership experience. She has developed, implemented, and evaluated a number of strategic initiatives related to mentoring and leadership for students, staff, and faculty, and participated in the Harvard Management Development Program, the University of Texas System Women’s Leadership Symposium, the UTA Leadership Academy, and CSWE’s Program Directors Academy. Dr. Mitschke is an internationally recognized scholar on refugee resettlement, and has also published articles on student success and mentorship.
