Assistant Professor
University of Houston, United States
I am an Assistant Professor of Social Work at the University of Houston Graduate College of Social work. My work examines interpersonal dynamics, systemic factors, and their influence on a community’s health and well-being across multiple institution contexts. I maintain an intersectional and interdisciplinary approach conducting work across social work, public health, and education to improve the outcomes for these communities. I have a broad background in psychology, with specific training and expertise in the developmental needs of communities in need and the practice conditions necessary to support their overarching wellbeing. Much of my research has focused on informing our understanding of current interventions and their influences on biopsychosocial health outcomes and educational experiences of marginalized youth. My research not only focuses on understanding the biopsychosocial experiences of marginalized groups but also on developing, implementing, and disseminating interventions to build resiliency among these communities. My work displays a commitment to developing, coordinating, and conducting socioculturally responsive research and my research experience in intervention development, implementation, and evaluation demonstrates a set of skills and expertise to support this work.
