Amber Mollhagen is the Assistant Dean for Admissions and Student Affairs for the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work. Her areas of research and practice interest include the impact of non-academic program components and financial support on student success and sense of belonging, the benefits of diversity in higher education, and disaster response planning and recovery within higher education settings. She has received federal and state funding for mentoring, training and financial support programs for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. She teaches undergraduate-level field seminar and macro practice courses. Dr. Mollhagen serves on the board for National Deans and Directors of Social Work Admissions. She has received awards for her leadership, service and support of students, including the C.F. McElhinney Award, the highest award given to university staff. Other awards were from the UH Graduate College of Social Work, National Deans and Directors of Social Work Admissions, UH Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Services and the UH Office of the President.
