This presentation will explore the benefits of using interactive simulations in social work education, highlighting the college's innovative approach and its impact on student learning. We will also discuss the potential of interactive simulations to transform social work education and prepare students for the challenges and opportunities of the future. With continued increase in online admissions to our college it is important to maintain equitable and ethical teaching methods to engage the online learner while producing a competent social worker. This presentation will explore the use of virtual simulations for social work students both domestically and internationally. Student enrolled in field seminar courses across both undergraduate and graduate programs. The broad use of simulated learning experiences has historically been utilized in educational healthcare related programs and have only recently been utilized in social work educational programs. We will discuss the process of creating a virtual simulation that can be implemented in a classroom setting utilizing an existing Canvas course or creating a Canvas course specific for a simulation. We will also review the pros and cons of each simulation design as an instructor and the impact on the student learner. With the accessibility and capabilities of AI and VR technologies in higher educational settings educators are now able to engage online students in new and innovative ways.
