Larry W. Owens, Ed.D., CSW, is Professor of Social Work at Western Kentucky University. Dr. Owens is a “pracademic.” That is, he became a full-time faculty member after 25 years in agency and community practice. Beginning as a child care worker, Dr. Owens served in direct care, clinical, and administrative child welfare roles. His experience has included working in outpatient mental health services, foster care, group homes, residential treatment, emergency shelters, adoption, and independent living services. In addition to scholarship on child welfare topics, Dr. Owens engages in scholarship on leadership and scholarship of teaching-learning (SoTL).
