Stacy Peterson, DSW, LCSW has over 20 years of experience supporting survivors of trauma. Having spent the better part of the past five years working in higher education as a gender-based violence advocate, she has witnessed the impact that trauma has on learning and recognized the critical role faculty play in supporting students who have experienced trauma and help foster their learning. Given these experiences, Stacy focused her doctorate work on increasing the use of Trauma-Informed Educational pedagogy in social work education.
Stacy is an experienced educator. She has developed trainings for students, staff, and faculty on trauma, trauma-informed practices, trauma-informed educational pedagogy, responding to disclosures, and gender-based violence. She has a Master of Science in Social Work from Columbia University and a Doctorate in Social Welfare from the University at Buffalo. Stacy currently works as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Fitchburg State University and maintains a small private practice, where she provides therapy, supervision, consultations, and training.
