Jimin Sung, MA (she/her/hers)

Jimin is a doctoral student at the Columbia University School of Social Work. Her research centers on examining the effects of social oppression on the well-being of stigmatized individuals, particularly those with disabilities and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Her primary objective is to gain insights into the mechanisms of stigmatization, how people respond to it, and strategies for coping with various forms and degrees of stigma. She places a special emphasis on the intersections of queer justice and disability justice, aspiring to empower marginalized communities through scholarly activism. Jimin worked as an advocate at an Independent Living Center in Seoul, South Korea, where she actively engaged in disability justice activism aimed at promoting disability liberation within Korean society. She holds bachelor's and master's degrees in social welfare from Sungkyunkwan University in Seoul, South Korea.
