Dr. Priscila Norris is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Kentucky College of Social Work, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and a Certified Clinical Supervisor in North Carolina.
Her education and training include a Doctor of Social Work from the University of Kentucky, a master's degree in Social Work, and a graduate certificate in Military and Trauma Counseling from East Carolina University, where she was awarded the Maria McMahon Achievement Award by the School of Social Work in 2015. In addition, she is a University of North Carolina Wilmington 2022 Open Pedagogy Faculty Fellow.
Dr. Norris’ research interests include supervision frameworks that incorporate social justice values and anti-oppressive approaches; the use of open pedagogical strategies to increase epistemic justice among learners of historically minoritized identities; the relationships between open and critical pedagogies and their effects on engagement and belonging among students of minoritized identities; and the relationships between relational supervision and supervisor wellbeing. In addition to being a scholar and educator, Dr. Norris is a holistic practitioner who integrates psychodynamic theory and mindfulness strategies in clinical practice and supervision. Her clinical, supervisory, and pedagogical practices are grounded in anti-oppressive and decolonizing frameworks.
