Miki (Mikayla) Foster (they/them) is a filmmaker, multidisciplinary artist, educator and activist based out of Albany, New York. Their work centers historically marginalized communities through art and community presence as a means to liberate oneself and the communities we belong to. Miki is the founder of MFProductions, a collaborative film and media arts company focused on bringing truth to the forefront when representing historically excluded people and communities. As an educator, they facilitate numerous decolonial and abolitionist trainings and events, as well as their work organizing direct actions, mutual aid systems and community building as the co-founder of both The Black Abolitionist Directive. Their first documentary film, IMANI, screened in May 2022 as a graduate of the 2021-2022 Arts2Work National Fellowship. They are currently working towards becoming a published author, finalizing a narrative film, LUCID, and their next documentary, GOOD MOURNING. They devote everything in gratitude to the Ancestors, both in blood and in community.
