Dr. Daniel Agyei Boamah is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Social Work and a Research Fellow at the LifeSkills Center for Child Welfare Education and Research at Western Kentucky University. He earned his Master of Science and PhD in Social Work from Kent School of Social Work, University of Louisville, and has a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Waterloo, Canada. completed his Bachelor's education at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana. His research focus is on addressing the structural and racial inequities in child welfare, Blacks, immigrants, refugees, and individuals diagnosed with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Dr. Boamah has in the past and is currently leading multiple research projects in those areas through grant work. He has authored many publications on these subject areas in peer-reviewed journals. He has been recognized for his work both by local and national organizations.
Dr. Boamah is a licensed clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Kentucky. He is the co-founder of KY STEPS Behavioral Health Services, LLC, and the Director of the Survivors of Torture Recovery Center in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He has many years of clinical experience with underserved and highly traumatized communities including youth in the child welfare system, immigrants and refugees, and persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities. His clinical focus has been to build the capacity for practitioners to provide culturally and linguistically responsive interventions to individuals and families. In addition, he provides clinical supervision, consultation, and training to clinicians, organizations, and communities.
