Peter Szto is Professor at the Grace Abbott School of Social Work, University of Nebraska at Omaha. He worked for 12-years in various mental health programs before entering the academy. His research involves visual epistemology as a tool of social research, social welfare development in China, and re-imaging mental health stigma. Recent exhibits include a visual study of China’s mass internal migration, de-stigmatizing mental illness, and an ongoing visual satire on cows of color. In 2022 he was a Senior Fulbright Scholar at the National University of Singapore. Currently, is the BSSW Coordinator at UNO and teaches courses on mental health, spirituality, global engagement, and writing. He is also the Editor-in-Chief of the academic journal, Social Work & Christianity. His earned degrees are from Calvin College, Michigan State University, Westminster Theological Seminary, and the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Szto was born and raised in New York City. He lives happily in Omaha with his wife and two doggies.
