Dr. Sarah Leat, PhD, LMSW, is an assistant professor in the School of Social Work at the University of Memphis in Memphis, Tennessee. Dr. Leat’s research flows directly from her practice as a domestic violence advocate at a family justice center. She focuses on help-seeking behaviors, and the role of transportation in accessing services for survivors of intimate partner violence. Additionally, Dr. Leat researches the impact of the built environment on access to services and outcomes from services for survivors, including the built environment of domestic violence shelters.
