Francie Julien-Chinn, Ph.D., MSW, is an Associate Professor of Social Work at the University of Hawai‘i (UH) at Mānoa, Thompson School of Social Work and Public Health. Prior to coming to UH, she worked in the field of child welfare. After receiving her B.S.W. in Social Work from Northern Arizona University, she obtained her M.S.W. in Social Work as well as her Ph.D. in Social Work at Arizona State University. Dr. Julien-Chinn focused her social work practice on improving the well-being of children and families, especially those who come in contact with the child welfare system. Dr. Julien-Chinn focuses her research on child welfare workforces, family houselessness, and family resiliency.
