Mark Plassmeyer is an Assistant Professor of Social Work at the University of Arkansas. His research interests are broadly focused on the criminal justice system with an emphasis on policies, programs, and institutions that impact criminalized people. His work is published in multiple journals focusing on social work and criminology including Criminology and Public Policy, Criminal Justice Review, Social Work Research, and the Journal of Evidence-Based Social Work. Dr. Plassmeyer has received federal funding through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and the Bureau of Justice Assistance. He is also currently the Primary Investigator for a National Institute of Justice-funded evaluation of the Fayetteville Police Department's Crisis Intervention Response Team which pairs social workers with Crisis Intervention Trained police officers to respond to crisis-related calls for service. Dr. Plassmeyer received his MSW from the University of Pittsburgh and his Ph.D. from the University of Denver.
