Fiona Doherty is a PhD Candidate in the College of Social Work at The Ohio State University. Her areas of interest are environmental and climate justice, community-engaged research, and experiential learning pedagogy. Fiona is passionate about understanding and addressing climate change impacts on well-being among vulnerable groups and rural communities. She received her Bachelor of Science from Cornell University and later worked as an Extension Support Specialist in a statewide position with Cornell. In 2021, she earned her MSW with a specialization in community and social justice. Her community-engaged, interdisciplinary work is driven by the pursuit of social and environmental justice. Fiona has experience developing environmental justice curricula for social work students, and engaging communities using participatory action methods. She was a 2021-2022 Albert Schweitzer Fellow and a recipient of the 2023 Selma & Alexander W. Erlen Award for demonstrating excellence in service, academics, and scholarship as a doctoral student.
