Mini Datta is currently the Assistant Director of Internships & Career Services at Loyola University School of Social Work. She is also an Adjunct Faculty and teaches courses in both the BSW and MSW programs. She is also a CSWE Site Visitor. Prior to joining Loyola University, Mini Datta was an Adjunct Faculty at University of Southern California’s Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work’s Virtual Academic Center for over three years. Mini has significant experience with distance learning and has supported students to successfully navigate their internship experience in multiple roles including serving as a field instructor, field liaison, instructor and co-facilitator for Advanced Standing students.
Mini Datta’s leadership roles include local and state participation. Mini Datta participated on The Night Ministry Board of Directors from 2019-2022 and served as Secretary of the Board for two years. Mini Datta co-led from 2022 to 2024 the Illinois Field Director’s Consortium, a coalition of Schools of Social Work across the state.
Mini has experience working with community development organizations in the City of Chicago on issues ranging from affordable housing development, welfare to work, education, health and human services. She also has more than a decade of experience working in domestic microfinance with the Opportunity Finance Network in Philadelphia and Credit Builders Alliance in Washington, D.C. Of note, Mini has worked with Native community development finance organizations serving Alaskan, Hawaiian, and Native American populations. She holds a Master of Social Work: Community and Economic Development degree from Washington University in St. Louis.
