Shirley Gatenio Gabel, Phd, MSW

Dr. Shirley Gatenio-Gabel, Ph.D. is a Professor and holds the Quaranta Chair for Justice for Children at Fordham University's Graduate School of Social Service. Dr. Gatenio-Gabel's research focuses on human rights and social policies, particularly those affecting children and families. Dr. Gatenio-Gabel has been awarded two Fulbright Scholarships - one to Bulgaria and the other to Argentina. She is the chair of CSWE's Commission on Educational Policy, a CSWE Board member and a member of CSWE's Katherine A. Kendall Institute Advisory Board. Dr. Gatenio-Gabel is an active member of the IASSW Human Rights and Justice and Awards Committees. She is the co-founder/co-editor of the Journal on Human Rights and Social Work.
