Anna M. Clarke, DSW, CSW serves as the Social Work Department's Director of Field Education for the Bachelor and Master of Social Work programs at the University of the Virgin Islands. Dr. Clarke earned a Doctor of Social Work and a Master of Social Work degree from Walden University. In addition to her love of social work education, Dr. Clarke is passionate about her work as a clinician at Island Therapy Solutions. She has extensive experience working with children, youth, and families and she is very passionate about working with clients who have experienced trauma. Her professional career spans over thirty years, on the island of St. Croix, at various government and non-profit agencies as a social worker, administrator, service coordinator, and therapist.
Dr. Clarke holds membership in Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc., the National Association of Social Workers,-Virgin Islands Chapter, Phi Alpha and Golden Key Honor Societies, and the National Society of Leadership and Success. Her most recent publication, Social Workers’ Experiences Navigating Barriers for Youth Aging Out of Foster Care in the US Virgin Islands, was published in Child & Youth Services, https://doi.org/10.1080/0145935X.2024.2353795 focuses on the challenges social workers in the Virgin Islands territory experience while working with foster care youth aging out of placement. She is the proud mother of one adult daughter and believes anything is possible once you believe.
