This proposal seeks to address barriers to accessing higher education and career opportunities faced by migrant and refugee populations. Through a partnership with a mid-Atlantic non-profit that uses soccer to empower youth, we aim to evaluate the organization’s impact on supporting migrant and refugee young adults in achieving academic success.
Learning Objectives:
To educate future social workers on the impact of sports when working with young refugee and migrant individuals.
To demonstrate the impact of social skill training and workshops on young refugee and migrant individuals.
To share the findings of critical research to ensure social workers receive the necessary trauma-informed training to provide adequate services to young refugee and migrant individuals.
