Therapeutic Viniyoga is indigenous to Chennai, India and was passed down through the lineage of Krishnamacharya, widely credited with bringing yoga to the West. Specialized techniques are designed to help clients bring their state into balance and sustain it, which can support clinical Social Work practice in a multidisciplinary collaboration.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participants will be able to identify how the indigenous practice of yoga therapy supports clients to change their state from anxious (Rajasic) or depressed (Tomasic) to balanced (Sattvic) using specialized techniques in a personalized daily practice clients can do at home between psychotherapy sessions.
Upon completion, participants will be able to describe how yoga therapy can be used as a form of complimentary and alternative medicine to support the ongoing work of Social Workers, particularly when working with clients with a history of PTSD and Complex PTSD.
Upon completion, participants will have the interactive experience of a series of yoga therapy tools that demonstrate how yoga therapy supports client state change.
