Session: Ethical Social Work Approaches in Addressing Social Justice and Liberation

Palestinian Liberation: Looking Through the Lens of Social Work Ethics From a Student Perspective

This paper presentation will teach participants about the history of Palestine, the ongoing Israeli occupation, how it relates to social work ethics, and its necessary implementation into social work education. The presentation will expand on the literature surrounding Palestinian social justice and social work from two MSW students' perspectives.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Upon completion, the participant will be able to articulate a brief history of Palestine and the ongoing Israeli occupation
  2. Upon completion, the participant will be able to examine how social work values correlate with Palestinian liberation
  3. Upon completion, the participant will be able to implement Palestinian liberation into social work education
