The SHAWN Project is a NIH/NIDA R15 project that engages social work undergraduates in community-engaged research about the COVID-era experiences of justice-involved women who use drugs and the impact of these experiences on HIV risk. The challenges and successes of this initiative are shared, along with suggestions for best practices.
