Providing safe, affirming practicum experiences for transgender and gender diverse (TGD) students is an ethical and educational requirement. Evaluation results from a two-part online training that aims to promote TGD-affirming practicum experiences indicate training effectiveness. Social work academic programs must continue to develop curricular components in support of TGD-affirming practice.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Upon completion, participants will be able to summarize the need for promoting TGD-affirming practicum placements.
  2. Upon completion, participants will be able to identify the strengths of this two-part training based on evaluation data.
  3. Upon completion, participants will be prepared to assess their educational environments, including practicum placements, for TGD-affirming practices/structures.
