This poster invites discussion about the integration of Robin Kimmerer’s (2013) memoir, Braiding Sweetgrass, into social work research curriculum. In this book, Kimmerer writes about the ways in which indigenous practices and wisdom disrupt, inform, and intersect with scientific knowledge, providing a critical framework to interrogate and expand research methodologies.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participants will be able to describe the challenges that research methods course pose to social work students.
Upon completion, participants will be able to describe how Kimmerer (2013) explores myriad ways of knowing, including but not limited to research, in Braiding Sweetgrass.
Upon completion, participants will be able to list three ways that Braiding Sweetgrass can be integrated into their research methods courses.
