Practitioners hold wisdom and are a key perspective to understanding and providing information about supporting Autistic adult mental health. This study uses ecosystems theory and community-informed research to uncover perceived barriers to and facilitators of supporting Autistic adult mental health. Implications for social work educators are examined.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participants will be able to articulate the importance and nuances of Autistic adult mental health and how this applies to their teaching and practice settings. Attendees will gain a broader awareness of the needs of Autistic adults (i.e., how to support) on micro, mezzo, and macro level.
Upon completion, participants will be able to understand how different systems levels (i.e., micro, mezzo, macro) impact our ability as social workers to best support Autistic adult mental health.
Upon completion, participants will have strategies to teaching about participatory and community-informed research.
