In recent years, the value of the generalist practice degree, a Bachelor of Social Work, has experienced criticism from professionals in and outside the profession regarding whether it is the best preparation for pursuing a Master's degree in Social Work. Critical conversations regarding pathways to the MSW will be explored.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Differentiate how CSWE-accredited Bachelor of Social Work programs differ from undergraduate degree offerings in comparable helping professions.
  2. Recognize the role of Bachelor of Social Work degree programs in preparing students for advanced social work education.
  3. Summarize critical topics for preparing undergraduate students to enter CSWE-accredited Master of Social Work degree programs.
