This presentation by CSWE Press Editor and Council on Publications Chair covers all stages of writing books in social work from idea to proposal, writing, publication, and marketing.
Have you ever considered writing a book? Are you curious about the end-to-end process, from initial ideas to crafting a proposal, writing and manuscript development, and publication? In this session, the presenters will talk about topics appropriate for book-length projects and the types of publishers that might be interested in your manuscript, with a focus on CSWE Press, which publishes book and nonprint resources that address the needs and interests of social work educators and students. The session will also include discussion about identifying the type of publisher that is right for you, developing a proposal, and conducting a market analysis. The process of publishing a book is also discussed, including manuscript submission, review, and acceptance; peer review; editing; design; marketing; and distribution.
