In this oral presentation we will present our findings from a qualitative research study that analyzed disclosures of youth sexual violence experiences on social media and the resulting implications for social work educators and practitioners for using social media as a potential teachable text and tool.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will be able to evaluate the gaps and limitations in using social media as a teachable tool and text in connection to social work education and practice.
Participants will be to identify key aspects of how to integrate and learn from disclosures of sexual violence on social media and apply these to their own courses and practice.
Participants will be able to think critically of how to support students’ and clients’ educational and mental health needs through a trauma-informed and survivor-centered framework, using findings shared from online disclosures of sexual violence.
