This workshop will focus on culturally responsive evidence-based practice (EBP). We will present a competency framework for communicating evidence in the therapeutic relationship, and a complementary simulation-based teaching innovation, that are part of an evolving pedagogical approach to EBP in social work that centres around clients' values and sociocultural ecosystem.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion, the participant will be able to articulate their pedagogical beliefs around teaching evidence-based practice as it relates to diversity and social justice.
Upon completion, the participant will be able to teach evidence-based practice using an evidence-based practice framework that explores the client’s preferences, culture, and social context.
Upon completion, the participant will be able to guide social work students through the steps of an evidence-based practice framework that facilitates thoughtful and defensible treatment decisions, emphasizing cultural sensitivity and humility.
