Social Work Education and Climate Change Anxiety: Promoting Agency in the Classroom

Earn 1 CE Hour
Come explore the interplay between climate change anxiety and environmental injustice and learn a new framework/curriculum for increasing agency to alleviate climate anxiety. Participants will engage in activities related to activism, advocacy and mindfulness to reduce anxiety and increase agency that can be used in your class or practice.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Deepen their understanding of climate change anxiety and the important role that social work can play through education and practice
  2. Explore and understand a framework of agency through advocacy, activism, and mindfulness that enhances social work efforts to address climate change anxiety and environmental injustice at the macro, mezzo, and micro levels.
  3. Incorporate a range of activities into their classes and social work settings that address climate change and climate change anxiety
