Life Review Depression Intervention Conducted by Asian and Non-Hispanic White Caregivers: A Mixed-Methods Study

We trained Asian and White caregivers of persons with Alzheimer’s dementia life review depression intervention virtually/online and examined the training feasibility. Care recipients’ depression levels in both groups significantly improved and post-interviews supported the findings regardless of the languages performed. This study demonstrates life review as a successful non-pharmaceutical intervention.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe what the Caregiver-Provided Life Review (C-PLR) intervention is and identify its potential benefits.
  2. Describe the similarities and differences in characteristics and intervention results between Asian and White American caregivers of people living with dementia and depressive symptoms.
  3. Discuss intervention components caregivers found most acceptable.
